Employer Information:
When you enroll in the program, you will be issued a voucher good for a free ride home in a taxi or rental car. The program pays for your trip. You need only pay the tip for the driver (10-15% is customary) or gas (if you use the rental car).

In case of one of the specified emergencies, you call the transportation provider directly to arrange for a ride. Select a taxi or rental car based on the guidelines in the gray box below.

After your ride, fill out the green follow-up questionnaire that's included with your voucher packet. Return the pink copy of the voucher and completed questionnaire by mail or fax. After the Program Administrator receives your completed voucher and questionnaire, we will send you a new ride voucher in the mail.

Participants should use the guidelines below to determine whether they should use a rental car or taxi. Because it is more cost-effective, we recommend that all trips over 20 miles use the rental car service. All trips of 50 miles or more are required to use a rental car, with the exception of shift workers with unscheduled overtime who are unable to rent a car during normal business hours.

Take a RENTAL CAR if all of the following apply:
  • You need a ride for reasons OTHER THAN personal illness or crisis.
  • You are 21 years of age or older, are able to drive, feel comfortable driving, and have a valid California driver's license.
  • You are requesting a ride during Enterprise business hours (Monday-Friday 7:30 am-6:00 pm; Saturday 9 am-12 noon).
  • You will be able to meet the vehicle return requirements (by 9:30 am the next morning, including Saturday).
Take a TAXI if your trip distance is less than 20 miles OR you do not meet the rental car criteria above.

Description of Services
RENTAL CAR - To use a rental car, you must present a valid California drivers license, be 21 years of age or older, and sign a rental agreement. Insurance is included. Call before 5:00 pm the day the car is needed. An Enterprise representative will drop off the vehicle at your workplace and pick it up the next day. You must return the vehicle to the workplace by 9:30 am the following morning, including Saturday (for Friday rentals). In limited cases, Enterprise may allow you to return the vehicle to an alternate location. Charges beyond one day will be your responsibility and must be arranged with Enterprise on a separate contract. Upgrades are not allowed. You pay the cost of the gas and are required to fill the tank to the same level as when the car was issued. Fill out your portion of the voucher and give it to the agent. Retain the pink copy of the voucher to send in.

TAXI - Call the taxi company listed on the instructions enclosed with your voucher. Notify the dispatcher that this is a Guaranteed Ride Home call. The taxi can usually pick you up within 30 minutes of calling and is authorized to go up to 100 miles. Fill out your portion of the voucher and give it to the driver when the taxi arrives. Retain the pink copy of the voucher to send in to the Program Administrator. Be sure all taxi rides are through a GRH approved taxi company. Click here for a complete list.
